  • No shit... Who would have guessed?

There's no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy.

The research finds that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. These findings point to a vicious cycle, according to lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario. Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice, Hodson wrote in an email to LiveScience.

"Prejudice is extremely complex and multifaceted, making it critical that any factors contributing to bias are uncovered and understood," he said.

Was walking with a Maori mate yesterday who was born in the Mater hospital in Bris.

Some Aussie style good old boys went tearing past in their falcodore, screaming at him to "fuck off home ya black cunt".

To be fair, Christianity is often considered a core conservative value, so anyone who is smart enough will see the unspoken correlation when reading the article.

All religions are the core values of the conservatives in the countries where they are most commonly practiced.

Well, I'm glad this is finally sorted. Nothing fixes up stupid people quicker than telling them they're stupid.

My point being, it's very comforting to know that those who don't share your views are, scientifically speaking, just stupid. Hell, in this case it may well even be right - I certainly don't have any data to contradict the hypothesis. But where does that leave us in terms of actually fixing the problem? If the rest of us are so damn smart, why can't we bend these bozos to our will?

Problem is that intelligent racists, homophobes, sexists, general bigots do exist & they are the ones who are dangerous, sometimes it's not even genuine bigotry, it's just a tool in achieving a greater agenda, a lowest common denominator to drag others into supporting them in achieving their agenda.

Because in their failure to comprehend their own stupidity the stupid will violently resist any attempt to teach them something that conflicts with what they already believe.

Yep. David Duke, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and the other GOP miscreants come to mind.
